Cognac François Voyer - "L'Ancestral" Lot n°8 Grande Champagne

The François Voyer family house - and its 28 hectares of vineyards - is located in Grande Champagne, near Verrières. Since 1870, more than 5 generations have been distilling the estate's wines in two stills only (while the largest distilleries have up to 50 stills).

Their bottles can be found in the best restaurants in France: Ducasse, Le Jules Vernes, Lucas Carton, and many others.

Ancestral N°8 is a unique blend of François Voyer's oldest vintages - 1948, 1958, 1960, 1965, 1971 - in a series of only 186 bottles.

"Rather spicy and fine flavors are revealed at the opening like cedar wood, nutmeg, licorice. It respects the very high level of our very high range; I am proud to present it to you today" Pierre Vaudon, cellar master for the Maison Voyer.

The origins of this blend are relatively recent. In 1996, it was following the competition of Eaux de Vie de Segonzac, capital of the Grande Champagne, 1st growth of Cognac, won in the category "over 50 years old", that the first batch numbered "Lot 5" appeared with 196 bottles. The finesse and delicacy of this lot are matched only by its rarity. When the batch was exhausted, a new Cognac of similar elegance was bottled and L'Ancestral N°6, 202 bottles, was born.
